Work Schmerk.

I hate my job. There. I said it. I've been working there on and off for 5 months, but last month it became official. I'm a medical receptionist, and went from working 12pm - 5pm 5 days a week for a physician and a gynecologist to 9am - 5pm 4 or 5 days a week in a cardiology centre.

I'm the youngest receptionist by almost 40 years. All the other girls are late 50's, early 60's. I like to pride myself on the fact that I can get along with almost anybody. But spending all day with these ladies is proving to be hard. Don't get me wrong, they are all such lovely people, but it is hard work.

The business is running the same now as it was 11 years ago, when it was first started. 11 years ago there was 1 physician, one echo technician, 1 nurse and 2 reception staff. Now, there is 6 physicians, 3 echo technicians, 8 nurses and 4 reception staff. And things are running exactly the same.

After working for 2 years in a semi-paperless office, coming to an office that is FAR from paperless is quite a shock. There's pigeon holes everywhere. Referrals get lost. We make a billion photocopies of everything. It really does my head in.

We're having a reception staff meeting next week some time I think, so hopefully I'll be able to put my 2 cents in. I just don't want to rub anyone up the wrong way - a 21 year old with 2 years office experience coming in wanting to change everything probably isn't the best way to fix things. But there's only so much I can take!!

My boyfriend Nick is an apprentice baker at a cheese factory and bakery. He told me I should go and work there to do odd jobs around the bakery, and I'm seriously considering it! I think I would much rather work with a bunch of men than a bunch of women! Also, as it is now, he doesn't have his license so I have to get up at about 5 or 6 everyday, drive 15 minutes out of town to pick him up and then drive home. If I worked out there, the problem will be solved!

Anyway, sorry to dump all of this on you. I know we've just met and everything!

Do you have any work horror stories?

Hi There!

Welcome to my new blog! I'd love you all to join me on my search for skinny. The inspiration has come from reading Fat Mum Slim, a lovely blog written by Chantelle. Pop over and have a look, it's amazing where blogging can take you!

Anyway, my name is Jorja, I'm 21, and am ready and willing to shed this extra weight. I have the honour of being a bridesmaid for my sister in October 2011, which gave me the kick up the arse I needed. (I hope).

I've recently purchased The Dukan Diet book, which is a high protein, low carb diet. Oh, the horror! I love me some carbs! So basically, I eat nothing but protein for 3 days, then I alternate eating all protein one day, and protein and salad/vegies the next day, until I'm at my goal weight. According to the website, that will be in July 2011, which I was very surprised at. Is that all?! I can do that!

This blog is pretty much just going to be a way for me to document my journey. It's not all going to be about my weight loss though, there'll be some other things thrown in for good measure too. Hopefully I'll be joining in some blog challenges and link parties along the way... but I'm not very good at this blogging caper, so bear with me while I up.

Anyway, that's all for now I think. I AM looking forward to this. I AM looking forward to this.

P.s, I went into my local K-Mart just before, with all the intentions to buy a chocolate bar. I came out with a set of bathroom scales instead. Nothing tastes as good as being skinny, right? RIGHT?!
